I hit the iTunes store a few weeks ago, and it recommended the album Beautiful Things by Gungor to me. I had never heard of them, and usually never click on the recommendations. I decided to click it, and boy am I glad I did.
The first 30 second snippet I heard was Dry Bones, and I was blown away. It was so different. I probably listened to 10 seconds of the next 3-4 songs, and purchased the album. I listened to it for 2-3 days straight, and really enjoyed this different style of worship music.
Dry Bones has to be one of the most epic songs I have ever listened to. The slow build-up into a massive full band explosion is amazingly powerful. It’s like Muse, the David Crowder Band and Hillsong got together to write a song. I’ve listened to this one the most since getting the album.
You Have Me, with it’s country twangin’ banjo, is both powerful and moving. The instruments on this track are held back to focus on Michael’s vocals. By doing this, when the strings and horns come in it makes the emotion of the words really come out.
Eerie piano, groovy beat and biblically sound lyrics: all found in Call Me Out.
This world is dying
This old world’s dying now
But a new one’s dawning
And You keep calling us out
The entire album is great, and I suggest you go download it today: iTunes.
