Go by DJ Official with Lyrics

Here are the lyrics (as best as I could make out) for “Go” by DJ Official featuring HGA and Tedashii. I contacted Reach Records, Tedashii, KB (of HGA) and DJ Official to verify my lyrics, but I’m sure the emails and tweets got lost in the fan mail. I’ve been sitting on this video since January, so I figured I might as well get it out there with what I have. If the lyrics are ever updated on Reach’s website, then I’ll update the video.

This was instantly my favorite song off of the Entermission album. I was a huge fan of Bone Thugs back in the day. I would spend countless hours deciphering their lyrics, and master flowing like them (just to sing along with, not making my own). Hoping KB gets picked up by Reach – when the kid raps fast, it is awesome.

Gungor – Worship Different

I hit the iTunes store a few weeks ago, and it recommended the album Beautiful Things by Gungor to me. I had never heard of them, and usually never click on the recommendations. I decided to click it, and boy am I glad I did.

The first 30 second snippet I heard was Dry Bones, and I was blown away. It was so different. I probably listened to 10 seconds of the next 3-4 songs, and purchased the album. I listened to it for 2-3 days straight, and really enjoyed this different style of worship music.

Gungor

Dry Bones has to be one of the most epic songs I have ever listened to. The slow build-up into a massive full band explosion is amazingly powerful. It’s like Muse, the David Crowder Band and Hillsong got together to write a song. I’ve listened to this one the most since getting the album.

You Have Me, with it’s country twangin’ banjo, is both powerful and moving. The instruments on this track are held back to focus on Michael’s vocals. By doing this, when the strings and horns come in it makes the emotion of the words really come out.

Eerie piano, groovy beat and biblically sound lyrics: all found in Call Me Out.

This world is dying
This old world’s dying now
But a new one’s dawning
And You keep calling us out

The entire album is great, and I suggest you go download it today: iTunes.

Jesus in the Old Testament

Fantastic article by Glen Scrivener about Christ in the Old Testament. Very interesting read.

Jesus… saved a people out of the land of Egypt. (Jude 5)

That’s Exodus in 10 words.

Let me give a more expanded but less inspired version.  I will focus on the who of Exodus rather than the what.  My attention will not be on Moses or Pharoah or the plagues or the Red Sea or the law or the tabernacle – that can be for another time.  I happen to think there’s a more fundamental issue to tackle: Who is the LORD who redeems Israel?  Given that this is precisely how the God of the Old Testament defines Himself  – ‘the LORD who brought you up out of Egypt’ – getting this question right will be absolutely crucial.

We begin at the non-burning bush – Exodus 3.

Death is Coming

Death is coming. Death is coming for us all. Death is coming for the Muslim. Death is coming for the Jew. Death is coming for the Christian. Death is coming for the atheist, the agnostic, the Mormon, the Hindu, the Buddhist. Death is coming for me. Death is coming for each and every one of us.

We all try to avoid it. We eat healthier. We exercise. We visit the doctor. We take vitamins. Nothing we do can prevent the death that is creeping behind us. Day after day, drawing ever closer. The paths to avoid it are hopeless.

When I die I will deserve his wrath for the sins I have committed. Praise God I can put my hope in his son Jesus Christ, and be seen spotless in his presence.

Put your hope in Christ.

Mark of the Peace

Dwayne Tryumf’s new album, 777 (Mark of the Peace) is available now, and I highly recommend this album to you. The lyrical content is packed full of biblical truth. The first time I heard Tryumf was on Lecrae’s Don’t Waste Your Life track back in 2008. Really enjoyed the song, and was sad he didn’t make it in the video (though it probably wouldn’t have fit the story in the video). This is easily going to be one of the best albums of the year for the Christ followers in the hip-hop community.

It really is amazing how much he packs lyrically into each track. Here are a few lines from Never Be The Same that really stood out to me:

How did He escape the tomb,
when every eyewitness saw Him on the cross at noon?
And what happen to the Roman soldier?
Who moved the two ton tombstone bolder?
I-N-T-H-E-B-E-G-I-double N-I-N-G was a W-O-R-D.
Oh yes, and it’s sharper than a double edge S-W-O-R-D.

Favorite tracks so far are 777 Intro, I Don’t Pack A Matic, Our God Is, Never Be The Same, Sons of GodHe’s The King… I just realized I’m putting up the whole album. Do yourself a favor, and cop it now from Amazon MP3 (iTunes soon).

3 Reasons You Don’t Read Your Bible

Fantastic article by Dan Hames about why we don’t read the Bible. From the article:

From the earliest years of your Christian life– whether as a child raised in a Christian home, or as somebody brought to faith and discipled in a church group– you will have been told how important it is to read your Bible regularly.  You decided to try some sort of Bible read through and set to reading four chapters a day.  Early zeal meant you tore through the Gospels and enjoyed the drama of Genesis, but before long you ran into rock solid Romans, or life-draining Leviticus.  You missed a few days out, and then… well, it’s been a while since you found the will to pick your Bible up again.

Every now and then, first thing in the morning and last thing at night, you see it on your bedside table and it stares you out.  It’s at these times that other things tend suddenly to grab your attention.  ‘I really ought to mow the lawn!’, ‘I never did write that thank you card to Aunt Daisy!’. ‘Wouldn’t it be lovely to bake some bread?’  It’s so easy to drop reading the Bible down the list of priorities just a little bit, and never get around to it.  Why is that?  There are three very common reasons, and they all have solutions that aren’t so much to do with how well disciplined your are, but more about the way you think about the Bible.  The first reason isn’t even really a proper reason, so we’ll start with that one and get it out of the way.
